Project Description
PALM HARBOR
Palm Harbor is a 6-acre oceanfront parcel with a 7-acre deep basin. There are few properties that can compare to this spectacular location, nestled in the heart of Islamorada. The home was designed by the prestigious architectural firm of Siskind and Carlson. Dooley Construction teamed up with an investor and purchased the property to develop four estate homes. The buyer was fishing along the basin and decided he wanted the property to build one family compound.
This home is the most photographed house in the Upper Keys. It has been featured in more than one hundred catalogs, the TV show “The Bachelor” and a 15-minute segment of “Ultimate Island Homes”. The owner, a worldwide developer and an avid hunter and fisherman, decided on a lodge design. The home consists of an 8,000 sq. ft. main house with oceanfront breezeways connecting several pods. The construction is framed in fortified steel lolly columns and I-beams for high wind resistance. All the steel members are wrapped in various Caribbean hardwoods.
The interior flows comfortably, the open-air breezeways connect to two guest bedrooms along with the master pod including study, his and hers baths and walk-in closets. The main pod area consists of a large living area, kitchen, office, lofted library and poker room and, of course, a custom rod room with fly tying table. Included is a 2,200 sq. ft. guest house, garage, caretaker quarters and office. A state of the art greenhouse, many large outdoor Palapas and Chickees are built throughout the property. The basin is wrapped with 6,400 linear feet of Brazilian greenheart dock and walkways.
Truly a dream house!
