Project Description
SUGAR SHACK
Although this was a small project, it was one of my favorites. Mr. Ebert has been a client for over 25 years. I have built him two large oceanfront projects including this cabin. This cottage is settled on five acres of oceanfront. It was built in early 1930’s and survived the 1935 hurricane that wiped out the middle and upper Keys.
The challenges were that his home was built of Dade County pine and Island hardwoods. We built the addition to authenticate the existing cottage. We built this structure with dowel and peg attachments along with strappings. We also built all the doors and furniture to match. We were given free reign to update and duplicate old time, sturdy construction.
